Monday Book Review-Strugglepreneur

struggle

This book has been a great read for anyone starting or managing a business.  Here are the 6 tips that I learned from the book:

  1. Struggle is optional.  Everyone in business do not find themselves struggling. Business is many times thrown together and items are overlooked.  You can have a thriving business if you do your due diligence.   Sometimes business can be the very best thing that has happen to your life.
  2. Know why you are struggling.  If you find yourself struggling in business, there is a reason.  It’s your duty to find out what is wrong so that you can fix it.  Some struggles are rooted in bad information given at the start of the business.  Take time to go back and fix those things that hinder you.
  3. You must plan for great results. If you keep your hand on what is going on monthly, weekly and daily, you can catch things before they become out of hand. If you plan for what you are going to do in the future some mistakes can be avoided.
  4. One of the quick fixes: Get a business address. Don’t use your home address for your business.  There are a variety of ways to get a business address.  Fix out what is the best option for you.
  5. Another quick fix: Get a virtual assisted phone number.  Technology has advance so much that now it is so easy to get a number to make sure your company is professional at all times.
  6. Final quick fix: Register your business with google maps.  This is another tip that helps legitimize your business.  Simple things that you can do to help your business.

Friday Movie Review-Office Christmas Party

office-christmas-party-poster_december-7-692x1024

This movie was funny in a unique type of way.  These are the 6 tips I got from the movie:

  1. A Good Party is all you need.  People are craving social time now a days.  It seems like the world is tuned into social media and they spend less time together.  So when someone says party,  you can get a ton of people to attend.  I think that satisfies something missing in their lives.
  2. Some people show you a different side of them at a party.  Letting your hair down is what most people do when they drink or party.  People should really be careful how they act at all times during their employment.
  3. Sometimes a little tension is what you need to be creative.  When you are under stress sometimes you work better than you would when things are normal.  I know I do some much work when I have a deadline.  Millions of people thrive this way.
  4. Competition is good for your work place.  When things get low or contracts seem few, suddenly staff can get really creative on how to change things.  Management has to be extremely careful not to share difficulties in the company because the staff will do a mass exit and work will not be complete.  Good management looks out for the staff to make sure if layoffs are coming they will be taken care of.  Sometimes change is inevitable.
  5. You can make a difference with the simplest things. In this movie, they learned so much about each other and that information to help each other.  Take time to find out about your co-workers.  Find out their hobbies and dreams, it might end up helping you are them some day.
  6. Business can be won with genuine concern.  Many times doing research on someone can make the difference in you getting the business instead of another company.  I have learned in prospective customers making a decision you must do the “extras”.  If you decide that you are to commit to doing things above and above your competition, learn what can make you stick out.  It’s obvious this office party was a good ideal for this company.

FRESH START!

fresh-start

It’s January 2017, are you ready for your FRESH START???  One of the greatest lessons that I learned in 2016 is nothing stays the same and everything will change.  Even if we hope and pray and ask God to help us, sometimes the answer is no and we must learn the lessons that is being given to us.

If you spend too much time thinking about the past and how good things were, you will find yourself in a depression mode. I can guarantee you if you JUST GET UP and GET GOING, things will change for you.  If you just have some faith that things will get better, your life can turn around and you can live the life of your dreams.

A fresh start, a new breath of air and a renewed mind is all you need to make 2017 the year of your dreams.  Will you commit to be great?  Will you do things differently??? Join me in having a FRESH START.

Monday Book Review-Stuck in Neutral

stuckinneutral.jpg

This book was excellent.  Here are my 6 lessons that I took away from the book.

  1. Without God you will spend your entire life stuck!.  The principles shared in the book really give you insight on what happens when you go it alone without God’s will being followed in your life.
  2. With confidence anything is possible.  Many times in life we allow the down times to take away our confidence.  When we build our confidence everything in our life gets better.  Spend some time learning how to grow your confidence in life.
  3. Be thankful!!  One of the greatest prayers of our life is thank-you.  Cortney does a great job explaining that humility breed attitude and gratitude breeds humility. So many people go thru life with an entitled mindset.  I think people don’t really understand what they have.  I believe if everyone had to visit or live in a 3rd world country, they would return so thankful for everything they have obtained.
  4. No Sacrifice-No Success! Wow this point was tough to really think about because in this microwave society that we live in, it seems like success is given to people overnight.  I know everyone pays a price but social media can make it look like opportunities fall into the right hands everyday.  We have to be so careful that we don’t compare ourselves to anyone who looks like they got it all. You have no ideal what they have went thru to have it all.
  5. Make Adjustment-Not Excuses–Clever!!! I which everyone in the world would put this in their vocabulary and their mindset.  If we just did some adjustments to the plan and watched how things change.  We could conquer so many issues.
  6. Appreciate your haters.  This ideal is so true because in life the haters keep you on your toes.  You find yourself always attempting to get better everyday because someone might have said something that was negative about you.  Haters are truly motivation to do better work every day.

Cortney Westbrook is a great entrepreneur that I had the privilege to meet in November 2016 at the http://www.ilovebusinessconference.com.  He is new to Dallas and has great plans to network and grow his business in the area.  his Up Together Empowerment Conference is coming up on July 13 & 14, 2017 and I encourage you to join me there.  Check out more information at: http://www.uptogetherconference.com

What’s your 2016 PRESENT???

secret-santa

If you want to give yourself the best gift for 2016, start to BELIEVE in yourself and your decisions.  I want you to spend some time asking God to give you a clear direction for 2017.

Don’t end 2016 without a plan of action for 2017.  If you FAIL to PLAN, you PLAN to FAIL!!! Don’t worry about the particulars, work on the huge goals and seeing yourself obtaining the goals.  In your mind, see what you are wearing, see the shoes you will have on when  you complete the goal.

When you start to act in confidence, that goal can’t do anything but come to you.  If you have the confidence that you can make it, you will make it!  Your confidence will keep you going toward your goal.  You will work with conviction because you know that you will win.

Are you going to give yourself a 2016 PRESENT???

Movie Review-Almost Christmas

almost-christmas

This movie was so good, I saw it twice.  If you can get past the profanity, the story is really inspiring.  Here are the 6 lessons I received from the movie:

  1. Holidays should inspire families to come together.  Most families try to meet up and visit during the holidays.  Sometimes this can be a good thing and other times it can bring up some bad memories.  Either way family should be able to accept the past and move forward.
  2. Things are not always the same when you return home.  Many times the holidays are a source of sorrow and pain due to the loss of a loved one.  This is very near and dear to me, because my own mom loved thanksgiving and during that time, I feel extremely low and grief more than normal.
  3. Test your memory.  Many times when we see old friends, we might have a different version of something that went wrong.  Sometimes we carry a lie around that is totally false.
  4. Every job is not a good fit.  A politician truly has to know what is at stake when he/she decides to run and represent various donors.  The press has a way of taking a story and giving a false perception of the politician.
  5. It never gets old doing good.  If you have a person that feels a need to help others by all means help.  Never give up your efforts to help others.
  6. Angels do watch over you.  You never know how angels will show up and guide you to a better place.  Some angels are there to protect you and some angels just watch. Either way I am so glad that angels watch over me.

Monday Book Review-What It Takes To Be Number One

number-1

This book is a short but powerful book.  Vince Lombardi identified 9 skills/attributes you need to be number 1 in sport, business or life in general.  They are: 1. Commitment; 2. Discipline; 3. Excellence; 4. Mental Toughness; 5. Habit; 6. Faith; 7.Passion; 8. Results; and 9. Truth.

The 6 lessons I gained were as followed.

  1. Winning is not everything, but making an effort to win is everything.  This hit me like a ton of bricks because I can thing of the times that I have given up on something because it was too hard or I did not see success coming.
  2. You  must be smart to be number one in any business.  I totally agree that business is not for the weak in heart, you must smart to progress in business.
  3. Mental toughness will allow you to hold on when you are on E.  When you feel like you can’t give any more then your mental toughness kicks in.
  4. Success has a price.  Most people are not willing to pay that price.  Many see it too high to obtain that success.  What most people don’t expect is you must continue to pay the price to KEEP your success.
  5. The harder you work at something, the harder it is to surrender.  When you put your ALL in something, you keep trying!!!
  6. Results are the bottom line.  I know it can be difficult to realize when something is not going well, but I have learned in the last 11 year–NUMBERS NEVER LIE!!!

If you desire to be NUMBER ONE–READ THIS BOOK!

ul read.  Vince Lombardi identifies 9 things that everyone

Movie Review-Allied

allied-brad-pitt-and-marion-cotillard

This movie-Allied was a treat to see and review.  I learned 6 valuable lessons from this movie:

  1. Everything beautiful is not always good for you.  Many times we envy those who might look better than us or seem to have a better life than us.  Never wish for another person’s life, you don’t know what they go thru to live their life.  If you think that someone has a greener yard, trust and believe that their water bill is higher.
  2. Know your assignment.  Everyone is on assignment in life.  The smart people learn why they are here and live accordingly.  When you are on an assignment, you just work without problem.
  3. Be ready for change.  Change is inevitable.  We can’t stop it or cause it to be delayed.  If we know it is coming, we can get ready for it.
  4. Don’t allow your feelings to take over.  Feelings get in the way of so many things.  If you are dealing with your feelings, make sure that you keep working on goals and don’t allow moments of depression, sadness or angry stop your progress.
  5. Stop and watch the sunrise.   It’s good to slow down and see the goodness of God.  Being able to slow down does the body and mind good.
  6. Death is coming.  Death should be a great motivation for us to live every day as if it was our last.  When you know that death is coming, you will begin to make the main thing, the main thing.  You will begin to cherish every moment.  You will no longer be afraid of death, you will love the gentle reminder to live everyday to the fullest.

Keep Climbing YOUR Staircase

rizzi-spiral-staircase-3

Everyone has a staircase they are walking, running or crawling on everyday. Where does your staircase lead??   The secret is you must know where you are going.

You must be on a journey, a trip you might say, that inspires and motivates you. When the stairs start to curve and become crooked, you must have something that helps you stay on the staircase. When the feeling of excitement leaves you, does your final destination have enough grit to hold you??

If you want to make sure you keep on climbing you need to do the following steps.

  1. Revisit your Belief DAILY.  Keep remembering what you believe and why you believe it.
  2. Vision yourself reaching the top of staircase–Obtaining that goal you so richly desire.
  3. Figure out a game plan.  It’s time to detail out exactly what you need to do.  First do the big goal then break it down into bite-size pieces.
  4. Now it is time to get to work.  Work on your game plan everyday.
  5. Correct as you go.  As you work on your game plan you will see some correction and learn some better ways to do things.  When you learn new things, don’t be afraid to make corrections quickly.
  6. Never ever GIVE UP!!  You must know that you must KEEP CLIMBING YOUR STAIRCASE.
