Friday Movie Review-Collateral Beauty

Collateral_Beauty_poster.png

This movie was so good that I saw it 3 times in the last 2 weeks.  I love stories that touch your heart.  Here are the 6 lessons that I learned from the movie:

  1. The co-star stated 1/2 of the billings were built of his relationships.  Business is done based upon the relationships.  So many people offer so many things that the only way to conduct business is how you feel about someone.  This is true in every business from birth to death.
  2. Death can make you feel that life is not worth living.  No parent wants to bury their child.  During the time of grief, people can respond in a number of ways.  Sometimes it takes years to regain the day to day routine.  When my son died, I was numb for over 1 year.  I could not get the strength to believe in children again.  It was the most difficult time in my life.
  3. Time waits for you know.  You can’t control it.  It is truly a gift and we must be thankful for everyday that we get. Many people take time for granted. We always wish for more, but what if you decide today to think about living as though you will not get any more after today.  That would force you to work today like was your last.  It would force you to love to today like it was your last.  It would help you see time is not under your rule.
  4. Love is the fabric of life.  We can’t choose who we love or who loves us.  Just be open to receive it.  Don’t push people out of your life if they love you, just love them back. You can change your life with a little LOVE.
  5. If you knew you were dying, would you tell anyone??  If your answer is no, that is not fair.  Give people a chance to say goodbye.  That is the right way to die.
  6. Collateral Beauty is all around us, we must open our eyes to see it. The older people will tell you when God takes something or someone he replaces it with something or someone else.  I my case I did not know 2 beautiful children would arrive after Adrian died.  I was able to move pass the grief and see the collateral beauty.  My prayer is you will always see the collateral beauty.

fresh-start

It’s January 2017, are you ready for your FRESH START???  One of the greatest lessons that I learned in 2016 is nothing stays the same and everything will change.  Even if we hope and pray and ask God to help us, sometimes the answer is no and we must learn the lessons that is being given to us.

If you spend too much time thinking about the past and how good things were, you will find yourself in a depression mode. I can guarantee you if you JUST GET UP and GET GOING, things will change for you.  If you just have some faith that things will get better, your life can turn around and you can live the life of your dreams.

A fresh start, a new breath of air and a renewed mind is all you need to make 2017 the year of your dreams.  Will you commit to be great?  Will you do things differently??? Join me in having a FRESH START.

Movie Review-Allied

allied-brad-pitt-and-marion-cotillard

This movie-Allied was a treat to see and review.  I learned 6 valuable lessons from this movie:

  1. Everything beautiful is not always good for you.  Many times we envy those who might look better than us or seem to have a better life than us.  Never wish for another person’s life, you don’t know what they go thru to live their life.  If you think that someone has a greener yard, trust and believe that their water bill is higher.
  2. Know your assignment.  Everyone is on assignment in life.  The smart people learn why they are here and live accordingly.  When you are on an assignment, you just work without problem.
  3. Be ready for change.  Change is inevitable.  We can’t stop it or cause it to be delayed.  If we know it is coming, we can get ready for it.
  4. Don’t allow your feelings to take over.  Feelings get in the way of so many things.  If you are dealing with your feelings, make sure that you keep working on goals and don’t allow moments of depression, sadness or angry stop your progress.
  5. Stop and watch the sunrise.   It’s good to slow down and see the goodness of God.  Being able to slow down does the body and mind good.
  6. Death is coming.  Death should be a great motivation for us to live every day as if it was our last.  When you know that death is coming, you will begin to make the main thing, the main thing.  You will begin to cherish every moment.  You will no longer be afraid of death, you will love the gentle reminder to live everyday to the fullest.

Book Review-Poke the Box

poke-the-box-seth-godin

Seth Godin is known for INCREDIBLE work and this book is no exception. Let me tell you the 6 tips I learned from this book:

  1. Invent the status quo.  Stop following the path that everyone is following.  This can be difficult to do because you can be following the advice of a coach or mentor.  It’s hard to carve out your path independently but I want you to do try to do something alone for the next 90 days.
  2. Be the person to follow.  Seth states this requires a change in your posture. You must become a person of influence.  Do you truly BELIEVE that you are someone to follow??
  3. Become educated.  Motivation and inspiration requires increasing your skills. If you want to know how to keep motivating yourself and others, learn everything you can about it.
  4. Become known. I always say, you can be the BOMB.com but if you don’t tell anyone, you will blow up by yourself. In this world of internet and social media, it is easy to get known, just have something to say.
  5. Be consistent.  If you want to really move the needle on any project that you attempt, get consistent in working on it.  You will make some traction if you keep doing the right thing over and over.
  6. Have the heart and passion to go after your goals. If you want to obtain your goals, know that you must ACT on your passion.

Movie Review-Magnificent Seven

magnificant-seven

The Magnificent Seven was a exciting movie that I enjoyed this week.

These are my top 6 thoughts from the movie:

1.Sometimes you must give your ALL for payment.  Many times situations we encounter cause us to give our all and we loose everything.  Sometimes it is worth it and sometimes it is not worth it.

2. Get a group of people going the same way.  When you can have a group that have agreed to go the same direction it is indeed powerful.  Many resolutions and strength can be gained when you stick together as a group.

3.Fight the battles in front and not behind you.  WOW so many people are stuck in the past, bury the past and move ahead.  Now is the time to let it go.

4.Prepare to fight for what you want. If you want something in life, it is very possible that you will have to fight for it.  Nothing comes too easy in life, put forth some effort to get results.

5.War can continue in your mind if you let it.  When the war is over, move forward with your results.

6.Never underestimate a woman. Women can do just as much as a man and our strength  is questioned many times.  Take some time to give women a chance.
